After the civil war of Altis, Stratis and Malden, Iran annexed the two islands. The islands were at unrest, and small cells that had survived the initial invasion of Altis had set up camps in the northern areas of the island, using mountainous terrain and foliage to conceal their tracks.

Daybreak was situated just south of the northern mountains and were tasked with disrupting the AAF-FIA Guerillas. During these missions, NATO were found smuggling mil-spec weapons into their camps.

However, Malden was not yet taken, Malden started a fullscale invasion of the island whilst Daybreak were on it. Daybreak hid as a small guerilla force until reinforcements arrived a week later.
